Default Dacia expanding LPG

Dacia just announced they will be releasing two new propane powered vehicles, the Lodgy and Dokker.

the Duster 4x2 is already offered with a combined LPG and petrol cycle.

What is LGP? I was under the impression that Dacia had decided to not make any new models for about a year.

I take it tat we. Do we know any specifics on these models. What size are they going to be?

Lodgy and Dokker are not new vehicles but their propulsion systems are.

satisfies the fleet market.

So these cars are powered by propane? I didn't realize that companies really made cars that are powered by propane. is there a reason why these cars are being made from a market standpoint? Is there some type of shortage of fuel or a surplus of propane or something?

its more efficient. Majority of Taxi cabs have been retro fitted with LPG systems. Propane is much cheaper compared to petrol. Like I said, to satisfy the fleet market they now offer the systems factory installed instead of having to rely on the after market.

If it is so much cheaper than petrol, why aren't more cars using it as fuel? I just didn't really realize that cars were made that ran on propane. Is it only in Europe or something?

Lack of supply, gasoline cars are much more common to come by unlike diesels.
Not sure what else would factor into this

its cheaper because of lack of demand. You can fill your LPG powered car for about half of the cost of petrol. LPG will burn cleaner but you will see 15%-20% fewer miles per gallon because LPG has less energy stored than petrol.

BUT

If everyone was doing it then petrol would be half the cost of propane. It always comes down to aggregate demand.

Any idea of the demand will go up significantly or will thing stay about the same?

Default LPG is efficient

I have converted two vehicles to LPG. In the U.K. The govt. have committed to not raising the duty on lpg by more than the duty on petrol. I currently pay 45 pence per litre for lpg, and it is clean and efficient. People have been reluctant in the past to convert to lpg due to dodgy installers, but provided you get a proper Autogas approved installer, then things have really mproved. The person who says lpg is 15% less efficient is incorrect, over the last 10 years I have noticed that I get around 3 mpg less from lpg compared to petrol. This is offset by lpg being less than half the price of petrol. My next care will be a Dacia, but only if they introduce lpg vehicles to the UK
